If you’ve been following up with my blog posts, you’ll know that I have decided to start a 30 day writing challenge (challenge provided at the bottom of this post). This is the eleventh post of the 30 from that challenge, all in hopes to get me back into my writing. Wish me luck!
Day 11: Something you always think, “What if …” about
To this day, I wonder what life would be like if my family never moved to New York, or ever the United States before my parents met each other. Or, if we never moved to Florida when I was about 8 years old. Or, if I never went to a private high school. Those are my main 3 “what if” scenarios.
If my family never moved to this country, I probably wouldn’t have even been born, since my parents met after they both moved to New York. But, if they did meet each other and stayed in the Dominican Republic, I would be way more fluent in Spanish. I would have never met my friends or boyfriend :(. I would have had braces, since my family that lives there are dentists. I would just have a completely different life/lifestyle.
If we never moved to Florida when I was younger, I again would never have met my friends or boyfriend, which is sad. I would be more in touch with my family in New York, but less in touch with my family in Florida. We probably would have had to move to a lot more houses in New York, since rent was so expensive and that was the reason we left. This means that I wouldn’t have many long-lasting friends if we moved across school zones. My sister and I would probably not have as much materialistic things growing up, since it can get expensive. I think it would also be a completely different life than how I grew up in Florida.
If I never went to a private high school, I probably would have had more friends, because most of my friends in the public middle school that I went to also went to most of the big high schools in that area. When I went to the private high school, I knew about 3 or 4 kids, those of which I never have even talked to. As a shy child, I did not make many friends, especially since it was a completely new environment. Everyone acted so different there and I didn’t like it. It was a small school, so everyone knew everything about each other and everyone was basically friends in their own friend groups, for the most part. But after I found my friend group, we pretty much stayed with each other until we graduated and went our separate ways. If I went to a public high school, I think I would’ve mostly hung out with my old friends. It probably would have influenced my decision for my career and college choice differently, as well.
As always, thank you so much for reading, as well as showing interest in my blog! It means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate it. What do you always think, “What if …” about? Let me know if there is also anything you’d like to comment on in the comment box!
Lots of love,
